ProLon 5-Day Program
ProLon is the productized version of two decades of fasting-mimicking research out of USC's Longo lab: five days of precisely engineered soups, bars, olives and crackers (~700-1,100 kcal/day) formulated to keep cells in a fasting-like state while you actually eat something. The science behind FMD is real and peer-reviewed - metabolic markers, fat-preferential weight loss, the autophagy story - with the honest caveat that long-horizon 'longevity' claims outrun what any human trial can yet prove. Day two is grim, day four is oddly serene, and the finish delivers both a measurable reset and a recalibrated relationship with hunger. It is expensive for five small days of food - you are paying for the protocol, not the calories - and anyone with medical conditions belongs in a doctor's office before box one.
Why we rate it
- Backed by actual published research (USC Longo lab) - rare air in the nutrition-program aisle
- Structured box removes every decision: open day 3, eat day 3, done - compliance by design
- Fasting benefits with food on the table beats the water-fast most people abandon by hour 30
Keep in mind
- Roughly $35-40/day for very little food - the protocol premium is real
